Capacity Building and Outreach
To strengthen the capacity of wetland managers and stakeholders for effective management of wetlands, the Ministry has executed technical handholding for many years. Workshops provide a platform for sharing best practices of wetland management and for discussing key challenges and issues.
In FY 2019-2020, regional workshops were held in Kolkata, Chandigarh, Kochi and Imphal for nodal officers and wetland manages of wetlands of the respective regions wherein they were guided to prepare the brief documents and health cards. The process of instituting wetland mitras was also explained.A review workshop was also conducted for wetlands falling in low health and high threat quadrant (of the Ecosystem Health Report) wherein their draft management plans were reviewed so as to align the intervention measures proposed with the threats as highlighted by the brief documents and health cards.
The Capacity Building and Outreach being done through World Wetlands Day and Publications are given in their respective sections.
